Project Overview
YAH DIY Ltd is a DIY & hardware store in Berkhamsted, UK, offering home improvement supplies, tool sharpening, key cutting, paints, fixtures & fittings, and more. They also provide local delivery and expert advice. The client had a Figma design and needed a fully custom Shopify theme using Liquid, replicating that design, and building both services and product-selling capabilities. My role was to build the site, integrate product pages, service pages, gallery, testimonials, contact, and ensure it’s performant, visually attractive, and SEO optimized.
Challenges
Replicating Figma-based design in Shopify’s Liquid templates, while ensuring animations, transitions, hover effects, and galleries remain smooth. Also balancing many product categories and service pages, making search, shop, gallery, testimonials work well. Ensuring free local delivery and detail pages integrate well. Keeping site lightweight, fast & mobile-friendly. Ensuring SEO best practices in a Shopify context (URL structure, metadata, image optimization).
Results
Delivered a fully functional Shopify store + service pages that match the client’s design, with custom animations, hover effects, transitions, and a coherent user experience. Users can browse product categories, view services, gallery, testimonials, contact the store; the shop is set up with local delivery and phone/email contact. The site loads fast, works well on mobile & desktop, and is optimized for search engines. Client is able to manage products, services, and content via Shopify; site is live and getting customer traffic.
